Reunion Resort Went From Hosting Junior Golf's World Championship to Funding It Through 2028

For most of its history, Reunion Resort's role in the Under Armour Junior Golf World Championship was straightforward: lend the fairways, collect the prestige, wave the field goodbye at the end of summer. Reunion hosted the tournament in 2025 and in years before that, the same arrangement most resorts settle into when a marquee event needs a marquee venue.

That arrangement just changed. Reunion Resort & Golf Club has signed on as an official sponsor partner of the championship, locking in its role for 2026, 2027 and 2028. It is the first time the resort has moved from venue to backer, and the shift says more about where Reunion is putting its money than any single amenity announcement could.

The Difference Between Hosting and Sponsoring

Hosting a tournament costs a resort almost nothing beyond staff time and course maintenance it would be doing anyway. Sponsoring one is a different commitment: a multi-year financial stake in an event's future, made before knowing exactly what that future looks like.

The event itself is not small. The Under Armour Junior Golf World Championship brings together more than 700 elite junior golfers from over 50 countries, competing across 54 holes for a world title, every summer. Reunion's general manager framed the new sponsorship as a statement about the tournament's long-term future rather than a one-year marketing buy, which is a meaningfully different bet than simply renting out three golf courses for a week.

That distinction matters for anyone whose summer already includes the sound of junior golfers on the range at Reunion. The resort isn't just tolerating the tournament traffic anymore. It is underwriting three more summers of it.

The Practice Facility Behind the Headline

Sponsorship commitments like this rarely appear out of nowhere, and Reunion's didn't. The resort has spent the past several years building golf infrastructure that makes a bet on junior golf's future look less like optimism and more like following through on an investment already made.

The centerpiece is the Golfzon Leadbetter Academy, which set up its global headquarters at Reunion, serving as the flagship location for a network of 36 academies in 15 countries. The facility sits on four acres and includes an indoor putting studio with SAM PuttLab and PuttView technology, a biomechanics and fitness studio, and outdoor hitting bays built around TrackMan ball-tracking systems, the same category of equipment used at tour-level instruction facilities.

This year, the academy added a Club Champion custom club-fitting studio, giving golfers at Reunion access to more than 65,000 head and shaft combinations from brands including PXG and Bettinardi. That's not a rounding-error amenity. It's the kind of fitting infrastructure typically found at destination golf retailers, not tucked inside a residential resort clubhouse.

Reunion also remains the only resort in the world with three championship courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson, a fact that predates any of this year's news but sets the baseline the sponsorship and the academy expansion are building on top of.

What Changes If You Already Have a Tee Time Here

None of this requires a junior golf career to matter day to day. A few practical shifts worth knowing if Reunion is already part of your routine:

  • The Club Champion fitting studio and Leadbetter Academy facilities are open to resort guests and members, not reserved for tournament competitors, so a new driver fitting or a swing tune-up doesn't require a special booking window.
  • FootGolf runs on the Watson Course Sunday through Wednesday after 4 p.m., a low-stakes option if the practice facility crowd has you thinking about golf without wanting a full round.
  • Summer weeks tied to the championship will likely bring more junior golfers and their families onto the property than in past years, now that Reunion has a three-year commitment rather than a one-off hosting slot.
  • The pickleball courts at the Tennis Center remain separate from all of this, lighted hard courts available on a first-come basis if golf isn't the plan for the day.

The Dining Room Kept Pace

The golf investment didn't happen in isolation. Reunion's dining scene picked up its own recognition this year, with the resort named to the 2026 Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards, a distinction based on twelve months of guest reviews that places Reunion among the top 10 percent of listings on the platform worldwide.

7593 Chophouse, the resort's steakhouse (a rebrand of what was previously known as Forte), has become a repeat destination for resort guests and Orlando-area diners alike, according to the resort's own account of its guest feedback. Up on the eleventh floor, Eleven keeps a weekly rhythm going: a DJ set on Fridays, a live musician on Saturdays, and a rooftop view that occasionally catches the nightly fireworks from nearby theme parks without anyone needing to leave the property.

None of this reads as a resort chasing a single headline. It reads as a property investing in golf and hospitality on parallel tracks, the kind of pattern that shows up more in balance sheets than in press releases, except this time the sponsorship announcement made it visible.

The Read Through 2028

A resort hosting a tournament is making a decision about this summer. A resort sponsoring one through 2028 is making a decision about the next three. Reunion's golf infrastructure, from the Leadbetter Academy's four-acre practice facility to the new fitting studio, suggests the sponsorship wasn't a leap so much as a formal acknowledgment of investment that was already underway. For anyone whose calendar already runs through Reunion's courses, clubhouse and rooftop, the next three summers just got a clearer shape.
