Cañonita, Nordstrom Rack, Sephora, and Drybar are all still coming. The four tenants that have opened are a big-box discount retailer, a bookstore, a wine shop, and a home-goods chain. Cañonita isn't replacing anything you already have
If you already know Lake Nona's food scene, you know Boxi Park has run a Cañonita Street Taqueria stall for a while. The new Cañonita opening at Lake Nona West is a different, larger concept entirely, an upscale, full-service Mexican dining room from the Tavistock Restaurant Collection tied to the same brand at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, with a reported $4.5 million interior buildout. Reporting on the project has confirmed there are no plans to close the existing Boxi Park taco stall when the full-service restaurant opens. The two are meant to coexist, one quick-casual and one a sit-down destination.
Until Cañonita actually opens, the closest full dining rooms already up and running are still where they've always been: Boxi Park itself, and Canvas Restaurant & Market on the Laureate Park waterfront. Nobody needs to wait on construction crews to have a decent dinner option in this part of town. Those options remain available while the new restaurant takes shape.
